Open access, copyright and author charges

All published journal articles are permanently free to read and download. Reuse follows the licence stated on each article.

  • Full text, abstracts and bibliographic metadata are permanently open access. Readers do not need an account, article purchase or subscription.
  • Each article identifies its copyright holder and licence. Reuse of open-access articles follows the Creative Commons licence shown on the version of record.
  • Third-party figures, photographs, instruments or other material are covered only when no separate credit or rights notice states otherwise. Privacy, publicity, moral, patent and trademark rights are not created or waived by the article licence.
  • Repository deposit of manuscripts and published versions must respect the rights and conditions of the corresponding version, with accurate version identification and citation.
  • APC rates and waiver conditions are disclosed before submission. An APC is requested only after editorial acceptance; discounts and waivers do not influence peer review or editorial decisions.
